Info
Galvanize [gal-vuh-nize]
"Galvanize" carries a name intricately woven into the fabric of our hometown. Known for its rich industrial and working-class history, growing up in Motherwell, Scotland served as the main source of inspiration behind the album’s title and overarching theme.
By embracing the name “Galvanize,” We not only pay tribute to our hometown’s history but also celebrate the strength and determination found within the people and places that have shaped us.
According to Plastic Magazine, "Galvanize" offers "a fusion of atmospheric textures and energetic rock elements, brought to life with electrifying precision." Echoes and Dust praises the album as "41 minutes of sheer unbridled joy" and notes, "Theirs (sound) is a tight, sinewy, taut guitar sound … one that is crisp and clean, and yet can get big and brash."
Self-produced and independently released, "Galvanize" like most things A Sudden Burst of Colour is an in-house endeavour. Callum spearheaded the composition and recording. Calum executed the production, engineering and mixing, and Liam led on the art direction and all things visual.
The album features intricate percussion, dream pop-influenced effects-heavy guitar work, and vibrant synths. Fans of Mogwai's soundtrack work, This Will Destroy You, Sleepmakeswaves, early Vessels, and the less hectic 65daysofstatic numbers will find a lot to love here, according to Norman Records.
Recorded in various studios, rehearsal spaces, and living rooms across 2022 and 2023. A special thanks to Paul Winton of North Road Studios in Bellshill, Scotland for his recording prowess on two tracks, Tiago "Canadas" Carvalho of Poison Apple Studios in Lisbon, Portugal for refining the recording, and Eric Broyhill of Broyhill Masters in Stockholm, Sweden, for mastering the LP and offering valuable advice and guidance.
To you, our dear listeners, we extend a sincere thank you for your steadfast support and for choosing to invest in this LP. Your encouragement holds immense value, and we truly hope that the experience of 'Galvanize' brings you joy.Â
